water which I have to pass safely away. I may mention that during my absence from the Colony on one occasion 2 feet of water passed over the existing weir which I have stated is 120 feet in width, and this with the Culvert under measuring 2.8" x 2.4" opere, the Sluice Valve having been temporarily removed.
As stated in my Report of 30th ultimo I strongly recommend that all Ironwork for the Reservoir be supplied and sent out under Mr. Rawlinson's directions. The advice he has already given has been very valuable, and I have made the alterations and additions suggested by him. I may mention that Mr. Nydd has been put in charge of the Matter.
As His Excellency is aware that Mr. Bird the Assistant Surveyor General will shortly be in England, I should suggest that he be instructed to call on Mr. Rawlinson and give him further local information that may be required.
I have the honour to be, Sir, Your most obedient servant, Surveyor General.
